Dear Jesus, we thank you for making yourself present to us every
day in the Eucharist. We ask you to increase our love and understanding of your
love, made manifest to us, so that we might be sent forth from the altar of
sacrifice to be your hands and feet in a world of need.
Reflection
It seems that Jesus is not so concerned with when His
return will happen as much as He is with being prepared for it.(Luke 17:20-25)
He says, "There will be those who will say to you,
'Look, there he is,' or 'Look, here he is.' Do not go off, do not run in
pursuit."
That’s pretty good advice! (Of course, consider the
Source!) Better to be ready for Christ's coming, by being in harmony with Him
and our brothers and sisters, maintaining a "state of grace" in our
souls. And then, if we happen to be alive for the Second Coming of Christ,
fine. But if we die before it happens, then we are ready for our own personal
coming to Christ for judgment after death.
For the faithful who are prepared, it will be a glorious
day either way!================================================================
I’m sorry for the short reflection today. I was really busy at work all day, and
although it was a pretty productive day, I’m exhausted. OK, exhausted is only part of it. Soreness is the bigger part. I have chronic backache to begin with, and it’s
been quite the struggle the last few days just to move around. I thought I was doing a pretty good job of “offering
it up”, when I got “Thor’ed”.
You probably know about Thor--In Norse mythology, Thor was a hammer-wielding god associated with
thunder, lightning, storms, oak trees, strength, the protection of mankind, and
also hallowing, healing, and fertility.
The key words in my description were “hammer-wielding”. Mom and Marilyn, don’t go off the deep end
and worry about me, I’m alright. I have
our Blessed Mother watching out for me.
Anyway, the guy I was working with was using a sledgehammer to dislodge
some bolts out of the concrete floor. I
was about 10 feet away from him.
Suddenly, he lost his grip on the hammer and it flew directly at me and
hit me full-force on the knee. If I said
it didn’t hurt, I’d be grossly underestimating the pain. But I can still move it, and even kneel on
it, so it must be OK. It’s just so “Thor”. To top that off, I smashed my index finger
later in the day, which is making it hard to type. Oh well, at least I still
have my sense of humor!(?)
