When he was at table with them, he took the bread. He blessed the bread, and broke it, and gave it to them. And their eyes were opened and they recognized him!(Luke 24:13-35)

Faith is more important than miracles

From the brief encounter between Jesus and the Canaanite woman in Matthew’s gospel (Matthew 15: 21-28) we can see that God isn’t limited by any “theology.”

Jesus said that His priority was to bring salvation to the “lost tribes of Israel and not to the Gentiles.

Jesus paid attention to the Canaanite woman’s plea after she listened to His explanation that His priority was to care for the “people of Israel.”  Kneeling, she continued her request saying that “even the crumbs off the table are appreciated by the dogs.”  Jesus was impressed by her “great faith”, and her daughter was healed.

Nothing stands in the way of God’s compassion.  We can never have “enough” faith.  This story in Matthew tells us that the woman’s faith was much more important than the miracle.
